Cultural Highlights #Ecem
Ecem is part of our graphic design team. She’s always dreamt of being a Ceramicist and during Covid started to produce her own ceramic art for the first time. She cites "Anastassia Zamaraeva” as her biggest influence. Here she gives us an insight into her cultural life and comes up with some intriguing choices.
*Gig
“Papooz” I love this team. Live they’re intimate and crazy. I also love the guitar solos that aren’t in their recordings but they develop on stage.
*Film
I like to watch different approaches that work on my sense of fear. I’m a big fan of carefully crafted horror/thriller. Recently I saw Yorgos Lantimos - The Killing of the Sacred Deer. And I am looking forward to the new movie “Poor Things”.
*Book
I love H. G. Wells' books. He has so many books that I love that I feel as if I am listening to his voice while reading. “Doctor Moreau's Island” was the last book I've read.
I’m particularly interested in the animal kingdom and science in my life. This book is not actually a direct depiction of animals. However, there is one species that emerged as a result of experiments. A striking hybrid breed that still retains its instincts.
It was a book that made me realise that we humans are animals that fight our instincts, evolve, regress, and often survive because of them. The limitlessness of man’s ambition and his unlimited intervention in nature are also embedded in the book as a critique.
*Song
I love to work with music in the background. I made many sculptures with this song “Amanke Dionti - Ablaye Cissoko, Volker Goetze”. Each time it leads me to a deep calmness and concentration.
