“An amazing programme of football and culture at the Wal Goch (Red Wall) festival in north Wales this weekend.“
David Conn, The Guardian
Wal Goch Festival for Football Lovers is the first ever global festival of all things football related. Film screenings, books, games, fashion and memorabilia the festival celebrating fan culture from all around the world. Supported by The Football Association of Wales, bak is creates bilingual branding, print, communication strategy, design, film, photography, internal and external communications, PR, social media planning
The festival team approached us to create a unique brand identity that positions the organisation as forward-thinking and progressive at the same time as appealing to a core audience of nostalgic football obsessives. Initially, in year one, we used bold reds, whites and blacks with iconic football imagery and small elements of cool contemporary design elements such as a recurring circular symbol to spice up the nostalgia and appeal to new audiences.
Diverse and inclusive imagery emphasising football’s capacity to unite peoples and communities was an essential element in promoting the festival and driving ticket sales and visibility.
Each year we’ve worked within the established design language to produce unique branding while retaining the essential identity of the festival. The events has now gone global with strategic partnerships with the Football Association of Wales, the Colombian Government and Guardian News currently being discussed or agreed.
